...picking up from AMF's coverage of the 7th
Perhaps it's fitting that I was charged with the task of blogging about the top of the 8th inning in Saturday's Cardinals game. Fitting in that I joined the UCB when I started my other blog, titled "Good morning, good afternoon, goodnight", and that's exactly how the Cardinals went in the 8th on Saturday at Citi Field:
Adron Chambers: Struck out
Shane Robinson: Struck out
Tyler Greene: Struck out
Good morning. Good afternoon. Goodnight.
Granted, there's not much major league experience between these three, Tyler Greene has the most with 39 games this season (189 career), and leads the other two by a longshot. Having just come off a half inning where a wild pitch allowed another Mets run with pitcher, R.A. Dickey at bat, the Metropolitans' momentum carried into the top half of the 8th when the Cards went three up, three down (just as they'd done in the top of the 7th). A disappointing half inning, game, and series thus far--as the team has sputtered since venturing out of the National League Central division roughly a month ago. Sure, we're only two months in--there's a lot of season left to play. I'm not saying I'm giving up, or even concerned about the Cards' playoff chances at this point, but if this team doesn't start winning against teams outside of their division, the upcoming offseason will be longer than last year's by a month.
